Job Description: Assist the Air Vehicle Program Office in defining the Environmental Qualification (EQ) requirements in high level requirements documents, and in System Specification. Monitor flow-down to subsequent lower level equipment specifications. Determine natural and induced environmental parameters to be evaluated by test and analysis. Define stress thresholds, test standards and methods appropriate to the platform and its employment. Parameters include temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, salt atmosphere, explosive atmosphere, icing, hail, solvents, etc and combinations. Define deliverable documents required to monitor the contractor`s compliance. Review the contractor`s detailed definition of the projected environment in each zone of the aircraft. Review Test Plans, Test procedures and test reports to ensure compliance requirements and conformance to accepted test standards. Address questions that arise regarding application and interpretation of the requirements, and appropriate means of verification. Identify risks and provide support in mitigating or resolving those risks. Witnesses environmental qualification testing in some cases. Determine or provide support in determining compliance with and work-around for EQ requirements.
Mechanical Engineering degree or current curriculum preferred.
Familiarity with or interest in physical/mechanical/thermal stress effects a plus.
